1999 Caterham Sport Scholarship Series

The Caterham Sport Scholarship was introduced 1995 to introduce total novices to the world of motorsport.  This year 30 'scholars' will be competing in the multi-discipline race series (sprints, hillclimbs and finally two circuit races).  The fully sponsored all-inclusive package includes a Caterham Classic kit, entry to the eight round series and race licence tuition.  The live-axle cars use 1600cc Vauxhall engines which produce around 100 bhp - enough to hit sixty in six-point-something seconds.  The cars are also fully road legal, so can be driven to (and hopefully from) meetings.  Allowed modifications are minimal (steering wheel, seat, er ... that's about it) and engines are sealed to keep the emphasis on driver ability and the racing close.  Technical support is provided at the events just in case you break anything.

August 1999 update - the Scholarship is no longer, its now called Caterham Academy 2000 (see below).  All 50 (!) places for 2000 have been filled - book now for 2001!
